MX8000 - English Board

Hi guys,

I am being curious about the MX8000 keyboard here. I see it used and mentioned here on kbdmania and also ODT forum so often. Whats the deal with this Keyboard? Why is it so popular in Korea? Is it widely available or something? Also it appears that Cherry is the original OEM of this board but it was rebranded for various companies?

I really like how the spacebar says "space" on it! haha.

Also I noticed that the MX8000 keyboard seems to be often used with a custom keyboard controller (like aqua limkb).. why is this? Is this not an AT board originally or do people just like using the controller for no other reason with this keyboard?

Any comments and info regarding this board is welcome! I tried google but it seems to be a Korean exclusive model.

It is very cheap. Say less than $3. Comparing price, it has programmable controller, comparably good keycaps, and cherry brown slide switches.
Printing on the keycap are somewhat wired, because they were used in some Korean bank. I mean print say "sell", "buy" and something like that.
I guess some bank offer a lot of MX 8000 keyboard and than they were not used for some reason(s).

isn't it "less than $30?" It costs around 30,000 KRW.

MX8000 "Korean Version" was used at various financial companies. It is used long time and scraped one. The print is very kinds because users of this keyboard were various persons who were the first time to use computers, or just graduate High School.

MX8000 used programmable controller. So somebody wanted to compare with it to new controller maybe. :)

MX8000 was 25,000won from Auction.co.kr (about $28 2006 exchange rate?). This is very cheap one compared with any mechanical keyboards nowadays.
