Some questions 356CL

Hi again,

Since I have already gotten a lot of help here I have yet another question for you guys!

For quite a while I always noticed this "356CL" Keyboard appearing on a lot of mods here and on OTD.

Today I found a picture on OTD indicating that this keyboard is some kind of devkit or DIY (Do it yourself) kit for a keyboard?

Could anyone please enlighten me with some more information on the 356CL? What does the set include? Is this still available? How much does it cost?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Q1. Today I found a picture on OTD indicating that this keyboard is some kind of devkit or DIY (Do it yourself) kit for a keyboard?

A1. Yes, it is a DIY product. (One who want to make a keyboard have to prepare cherry switches, keycaps, stabilizers, and a PS/2 cables. He or she can make using soldering tools and hexagonal lench(right spell?).)

Q2. Could anyone please enlighten me with some more information on the 356CL

A2. 365cl is similar to previous editions:

  • is the last edition of 356 series. (`cl' means classical, since it doesn't have windows keys)
  • It is limited as the same as previous edition.
  • It is tenkeyless.
Different things from previous editions:
  • It has no windows key.
  • It has a bronze chunk to increase weight.
  • It is inclined.

Q3. What does the set include?

A3. It contains:

  1. (anodized) aluminum housing (two kinds of color exist, black and gun-metal.),
  2. a bronze chunk to increase weight,
  3. a pcb board,
  4. a mouting plate (anodized aluminum),
  5. chips for the controller,
  6. a rubber band to reduce noise due to vibration of metal plate, and
  7. a lot of bolts.

(Am I missed something?)

Q4. Is this still available?

A4. Delivery was just finished. (In some sense, it isn't available.)

Q5. How much does it cost?

A5. It priced  around four hundred thousand won (approx. 310 USD).

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer.
I had already expected the price to be this high, since recently this popped up on ebay:

This had kinda gotten a lot of attention from the English community because of the high price tag and the quality look. But seeing now that the base price is already over $300 it totally makes sense. I think the one in the auction is the previous version though (DKSaver?).
Sadly this keyboard is really out of my price range, even though it looks totally great!
Thanks again for the info!

I think I know the seller :)

Yes, I had already figured he would be a regular user around here or OTD :)
I guess the Korean keyboard-maniacs community is almost as small as the English speaking one?

PS: I have reposted your answers over at Geekhack, I hope you don't mind?

I don't care about that, in this case. I think you have to notice me before copying my `article', `reply' or whatever.

I always give credit where its due. This is also why I asked here if you were okay with me reposting it. If you had disagreed I would have removed that part and set a link to this post instead. I think intellectual property is important. Anyway, thanks again!

PS: This has reminded me on another topic regarding South Korea.. I will make a new topic about that.
